Our Cause
Awareness & Support for
Perinatal Depression & Anxiety
Becoming a new parent is one of the most joyful moments in life, but it is also a time of transition which can be full of new and, at times, overwhelming feelings and emotions. While it is not surprising for new parents (80%) to experience "baby blues" in the immediate weeks after birth, for some (10-15%) this develops into post-partum depression and or anxiety.
Our founder, Kathryn, struggled for years with her husband to start a family. When good news finally came and their first son was in their arms, the weight of the responsibility and the challenges of balancing so many different aspects of their new life were tremendous. Thankfully, through other moms and small but meaningful acts of kindness, she found the love and support she needed to fully blossom into motherhood. To honor these women, Kathryn decided that she would do whatever she could to help any new parent in transition. Naturally, this has become an important part of Pikku.
This is why Pikku promotes small but meaningful acts of kindness in support of moms and dads.
